Sublimation (suhb-luh-mey-shuh n) noun

In chemistry, a process to convert (a solid substance) by heat into a vapor, which on cooling condenses again to solid form, without apparent liquefaction.

In regards to sublimation this is a fancy way of saying that we print on paper using sublimation dyes (solids) and then with the paper against a polyester surface we apply heat and pressure to activate the dyes into a gas form allowing them to transfer to that surface.
